Welcome! We are fast on our way to becoming one of Canada’s foremost online health resources.
Launched in 2009, we have been growing as a niche until now we produce a full online magazine, which is updated monthly.
Our beginnings were much more humble. We began as a small health blog, run by editor and founder Clare Montgomery.
Clare started the blog when she was undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer and was looking for some recipe ideas which didn’t make her violently sick.
Somehow, her quest for a wholesome banana smoothie spawned an entire blog. The next thing she knew, she was getting recipes from everyone and anyone. It was then she decided to put them all online.
But it didn’t stop at just banana smoothie recipes. Before long, she had a whole healthy eating blog, which specifically dealt with recovery and tempting foods for invalids.
Somehow, the blog didn’t just stop there. Because on her quest for full health, Clare explored many complementary therapies and began writing down her experiences with treatments such as reflexology and reiki.
By 2011, Clare was fully recovered, but by now had a large blog on her hands, which she was struggling to manage all by herself.
Enter two friends, Jo-Elise and Samantha. They joined up to lend a hand and write about their specialist niches, namely massage therapy and exercise.
By 2012, there was the nucleus of a health magazine, which eventually launched fully in the fall of that year.
Since 2012, the publication has been joined by several more talented bloggers and writers. Our contributors all know their topics, in depth. We include pieces by alternative practitioners, but also medical doctors, in the hope for impartiality and variety.
We do not endorse or favour one particular view, or model of health. We simply wish to present all the options to our readers and let them make their own minds up!
We hope you enjoy reading our food for thought!
